Routes, ‘Routes to Employment. Exploring the systemic unemployment challenges faced by refugee and asylum seeking women in London’, 2025
Routes to employment is a research project to explore the systemic issue of
unemployment of refugee women in London, funded by Propel (City Bridge Foundation).
This report outlines the fndings from the frst year of research across 2023 and 2024.
Goals of the project:
1. To answer our key research questions in order to understand all aspects of the
systemic issue on three different levels: the individual level, the sector level and labour
market level. By organising activities and engaging stakeholders and parties who are
affected by and affecting the problem, we hope to understand the main causes and each
party’s needs to create systemic change.
2. Design a new pilot project which will address the outcomes from the research by
making interventions to support stakeholders on the three identifed levels towards
creating systeming changes of the issue of unemployment within the refugee women
community in London.
