Summary
Women in Refugee Law (WiRL) and Immigration Law Practitioner’s Association (ILPA) jointly organised a legal training session for UK-based asylum and immigration practitioners with a particular interest in gender-based claims for asylum.
Legal Training: How to Effectively Prepare Gender-based Violence Asylum Claims

This intermediate training session provided a holistic view of how to effectively prepare complex gender-based violence asylum claims. The trainers addressed the main obstacles that women at risk of gender-based violence face in being recognised as refugees in the UK. More specifically, the new standard of proof was examined together with guidance and tips on which evidence to include and how to prepare it. The new definition of Particular Social Group was examined and internal relocation in gender-based asylum claims also covered. The session included case studies and allowed time for Q&As.
